Momma bought me a hat. I love it.

What a great weekend :)
Well, let me tell you this could be the best weekend ever! On Friday night I went to a hockey game! The Victoria Grizzlies did an amazing fundraiser for us. They had their first exhibition game of the season & entrance to the game was by donation. They raised a total of $933.92 for Victoria Adoptables. How cool is that?
Here I am enjoying the game...which might add ended in in a 4-4 tie. We were behind 3-0, but rallied back and scored 3 quick ones to tie the game. The Cowichan Capitals scored again & we tied it late in the 3rd. It was a great night for hockey. They are playing in Sooke next weekend. Momma said we might go, just to show our support for a great team, cause we live in Sooke & well, cause we're Canadian & going to hockey games is what we do.
On Saturday we went to see my friend Dr Stacey. I cannot tell you how refreshing it is to go to a vet clinic and not have anything poked, palpated, injected or removed. Hooray for my team!!
He used to work at Elk Lake Vet but is now at The Dean Park Pet Hospital . Because he is working there now, they had a party for him to celebrate.
He was in charge of my aftercare when I had my broken leg. I'll never forget everything he did for me. Being a vet is not always an easy job, filled with lots of sadness I'm sure. I hope if he gets sad, he thinks about me & the difference he made in my life. He was a big part of my Glam Squad Makeover :)
Here is a picture of him with me & my friend Max. Max also had to get help from Dr. Stacey.
Do you see how happy Dr Stacey is? I'm sure it has something to do with me (and Max too of course).
Tomorrow is Sunday & Momma says I'm going to have a lazy day at home. Her and The Big White Giant are going somewhere. I don't know where. But Momma says he needs some Momma time too, it's not all about me. Pfft, how crazy is that? Oh well, I'll just stay home and talk to Mike the Parrot.
Have a good day everyone xoxo

Wowsers!
Wow! I have so much to tell you...my weekend was great! First, I went to Pets West on Saturday. They asked us if we could bring some adoptable dogs down to meet people. We went down there with Java, Monty & Summer. Summer got adopted! How cool is that? But then we brought Barney home. Barney is new to Victoria Adoptables, he is a very nice boy. He knows all kinds of stuff, like come, sit, lay down etc & he can even roll over & sit pretty. Momma says he probably won't be around for very long, cause who doesn't want a pre-trained dog? Right? Here is a picture of Barney. Momma woke him up ti get his picture taken, so he's a little squinty lol.
Oh, and some really exciting news! Our home town hockey team is the Victoria Grizzlies. They have their exhibition opener on Friday Aug 24 & the entrance is by donation. Well, all the money donated will be given to Victoria Adoptables! I will be there with a few of my VA friends that are looking for homes. I hope to see you there.
Momma took me to meet the coach and some of the players on Sunday. Here I am with Zach Urban, Stefan Gonzales, and Brett Hartskamp. Go Grizzlies!
And lastly, I'm going to school! Momma entered a picture of me in contest & I won! It was a summer fun contest and this is the picture Momma used.
So, I'm going to be going to Smart Dog Training. Can't wait! Momma says I will make new friends there & I will learn stuff too! How cool is that? I love learning new things & I love making new friends. Sounds like a win/win for me doesn't it?
Well, you're all caught up on my news. Have a wonderful day everyone & I hope to see you all on Friday :)

Saying Good-Bye
So, my friends Liana & Ashley are moving away. Far away. I may never see them again. For those of you that don't know, they are part of the Glam Squad. They help Momma with the makeovers foster dogs get when they come here.
When I first came to live at Momma's house I was, well, a hot mess. I had a big cast on & I just had surgery where they put a steel plate & 6 screws in my leg. I was away from the only family I ever knew & I was frightened and scared. And, I was in bad need of a groom. I hadn't been groomed in a very long time. My hair was all matted and filled with knots. You couldn't get a comb through it and you couldn't see my skin.
Momma took me in to see Liana and Ashley and they helped me. Liana was so kind and patient with me. Because of my cast she had to use dry shampoo to bathe me. She gave me lots of breaks and little by little she clipped away all the mats & knots & set my inner poodle free. Her and I spent the entire afternoon together and the more I got to know her, the more I liked her.
Ashley didn't meet me that first day, but she groomed me a few times since then. She was also very kind and gentle with me. They intoduced me to many other dogs and I got my picture taken with their Standard Poodle. Her name is Alice.
I owe them alot. They taught me how to be groomed. Something every poodle has to know and they did so with love, kindness & patience. The last time Momma picked me up Liana told her that I had become really good at being groomed, that I was calm and not so scared. If I am that way, it is because that is the way they taught me to be. They have played a huge role in my journey to wellness.

Happy, Happy, Happy!
That pretty much describes my mood today. I had my surgery yesterday & I feel great! I was a little sleepy when I came home, but once the drugs wore off I was back to my normal self. I was even chasing deer & rabbits last night. That Dr. Joe is one skilled surgeon I tell ya.
So, I also have a Facebook Page. Sometimes I don't update this blog with the same stuff that is on my FB page. The reason I am telling you this is, for example, did you know I am a backhoe operator?
Yup, that's right! I can do many things...I am a model too. I had a real photographer take my picture. It's now the picture on my header. I'm going to go back for a shoot with the Big White Giant too. The guy is from ZuluDog K9 Services. Here is a copy of the picture...in case you didn't get a good look the first time. Momma loves it :)
Well, that's about all the big news here. I'm going to have a nap now. Have a wonderful day everyone.

Two For Tuesday
A little video of me playing with the Big White Giant. He is so gentle with me. It makes Momma proud.

Happy Tuesday :)
Well, not much has been going on. My weekend was kinda boring, kinda fun. Momma went to a dog show on Saturday & I could not go. Why do they call it a dog show if dogs can't go? So I laid around on my bed, slept and talked to Cracker. He couldn't go either. When I got bored talking to him, I went and talked to Mike The Parrot. At least he talks back to me.
But, on Sunday I had so much fun! Momma took me to someplace downtown and there were lots of people and dogs there. Now, that's what I call a dog show! There were no dogs there smaller than me, but some were close to my size. There was one really big dog there that weighed 160 pounds lol...he was so nice.
Momma told people about me and the story of my broken leg. She told them about Victoria Adoptables and the hard work everyone there did to save my life. Everyone seemed so interested in me so she told everyone about my Facebook Page too. Now they can follow along on my adventures.
Lots of people took pictures of me and I even got my picture taken by a professional photographer from ZuluDog K9 Services. He was so nice & very patient with me, making sure I was comfortable and happy before he took my picture. I'll show them to you as soon as Momma gets them back.
I saw my vet there too! Did you know there is a mobile vet in Victoria? There is also a mobile groomer. Momma and I learned a lot from going there. My favourite part? Well, meeting all the people and their pets of course! Oh, and giving kisses to people. I am very kissy. Momma bought me some new collars too. Except she had to get something called bracelets, they don't make dog collars small enough for me :(
Oh, and I have surgery tomorrow. I have to have a little problem fixed in my bum. They going to remove parts that don't work. Sheesh, first a useless uterus, now these gland thingies...why do they put these parts in us, if we only have to get them removed?
Oh well, mine is not to question why. Mine is to love and be loved. Be adorable & adoring.
One more thing...I had to have a special haircut before my surgery tomorrow. Seems my front legs and bum were going to be shaved so Momma had Ashely & Liana do it instead of my Dr. I guess Doctoring is their specialty and they would have given me a "non-fashionable" look. Here is my pre-surgical hair style. It will be my last short haircut of the summer. Momma says summer is almost over and I will need longer hair to keep me warm in the winter.
Momma says this is called a Continental Clip. I think when this clip is given to humans it's called a Brazilian.

Here we go again :(
So...I had a little problem with my pooper. It"s kinda embarrassing and a lady should never speak of such things. It means I'll have surgery next week :(

The Best News Ever!!
Wow! Momma told me the best news ever. First, I'll tell you what I already knew from yesterday.
Well, I went to see Dr Stacey yesterday. He is the Dr that was taking care of me when my leg was broken. Dr Sukhiani did the surgery, but Dr. Stacey was the one in charge of all my aftercare.
For those that didn't know, I had an accident in late April & broke my leg. It was my right front leg and I broke both bones, right above the wrist. I had to have surgery; a steel plate and 6 screws were put in my leg.
Eventually Dr. Stacey said that I no longer needed a bandage and that could come and see him in a few months. So, I laid around and allowed my leg to heal.
As I got stronger Momma took me to to the beach, shopping and out to meet people and other dogs. Cracker showed me how to chase rabbits and held on to stuff while I played tug of war with him. He let me win every single time.
I got used to grooming, tried ice cream and learned how to sneak caterpillars into the house without getting caught. I went on vacation. I met new veterinarians that vaccinated me, and I got spayed. It was a great summer.
Anyway, as I said, I went to see Dr Stacey yesterday. Momma was sure my leg was healed because I spend so much of my time running around, chasing Cracker, toys and everything else that moves, but she wanted to hear it from him. They took X-rays of my leg and he said that my leg was healed. He said there was solid bone all the way down & that I was OFFICIALLY DISCHARGED!! Can you believe it? I was so happy I was dancing around in circles. Momma was happy and Dr Stacey was happy and all the staff at the clinic were smiling and happy for me too. Momma asked him for a picture with me and he said it was ok.
I really love that guy!
Ok, so this is what I didn't know. Momma stopped at PetSmart yesterday. None of my friends were there, but I made some new ones :) She got us more food and I tried on some silly glasses and played around for a bit.
After that, Momma picked out a name tag. It was pink with diamonds (I know they're real). She had it engraved. I was wondering who it was for. There were no other foster dogs at home and Cracker and I already have one. When we got home Momma took my collar off and took my name tag off it. Then she put the new name tag on it. I was so confused.
After supper Momma, Cracker and I all laid on her bed together. She said we were going to have a talk. Well, she talked we listened. She told me that I was all healed, vaccinated, groomed and spayed. She said my Glam Squad Makeover was complete. Oh! I know what this means, it means a family is going to come get me and I would go live with them forever.
But, she told me that no family was coming to take me home. She told me the new name tag had her phone number on it and my name. She told me that I was already home & that I would live with her and Cracker forever. How exciting is that? I already love it here, so I think it's just perfect :) Momma and Cracker are my family!
Thank you once again to all of the veterinarians and their staff that have helped me. Thank you to all the people I have met, in person & on the internet. You gave me encouragement, donated to my medical costs & wished good things for me. Thank you to everyone that reads my blog, follows me on Facebook and on Twitter. Thank you to all the pet store staff that have been supportive and kind to me. Thank you to Liana & Ashley for taking such good care of my grooming needs (I'll miss you guys). And of course the biggest thank you of all goes to Momma Carol of Victoria Adoptables. Without her hard work and commitment to me I would not be alive. Somehow she found the funds to pay for all of my medical expenses, and there have been many. Thank to Auntie Shelley who took me on vacation and to the kind lady who brought me to Momma Carol after I was hurt (I know her name, I just don't know if she wants it on the internet).
Now, just cause I'm no longer a foster dog, please don't think I'm gonna go all Hollywood and leave all of you behind. I'm still going to be on Facebook, Twitter and writing this blog. I'm going to make personal appearances for Victoria Adoptables and help with fundraising when I can.
Momma will let you know where I'll be and when & hopefully you can drop by and and give me a little scratch under my chin (I like that).
This is me wearing my new name tag. See you soon xoxo

Being Silly
Momma took me shopping today. She took this picture of me being silly.
I have a secret. It's really good news. Momma says I don't know everything yet, but she'll tell me tonight or tomorrow.

Wowzers!
Well, that was fun! On the weekend Momma took Cracker & I to Port Alberni. We met some really nice people and I got to go swimming. Not gonna lie, I'm not a fan. I know poodles are supposed to be water dogs, but some of us have evolved. Cracker went swimming though and there was another dog there named Micky that went in the water over and over again. I don't know why.
Anyway, I liked Port Alberni, the people I met were really nice and I got to ride in the car. It was a very nice surprise.
Have you ever seen a more handsome looking couple? I think not :)

Something Serious
I always try to be positive and upbeat here. I try to give only love and to keep things lighthearted. But, today I have to share something very serious with you.
As you all know, I was spayed a little while ago. It's something that I am very happy about. I love everyone of my canine cousins, even those that I have not met.
But, the sad fact is that there are more dogs than there are homes. A quick search on Petfinder.com while writing this, told me there were 627 dogs in BC looking for a home. Add that to the 100's more that are in Shelters, pounds, sitting in foster homes and posted other websites and we are well into the 1000's of homeless dogs.
Just in the last week, Saskatoon SPCA had to move dogs to Edmonton because they were full. At the middle of July there were 710 animals in care at the Calgary Humane Society. This story is repeated at every Shelter in this country every day.
Please don't bring any more pets into this world until all my friends have homes. Don't get your pets from online sites or pet stores thinking "well this one is already born", "I'm rescuing a dog". This is not true. What happens is that the person that bred that litter will do it again thinking "I found homes for the last ones".
If you are looking for a dog, please start with local shelters and rescue groups. If you are set on a purebred, look at breed rescues. And, yes you can get puppies through rescues and shelters. If you do buy from a breeder, please remember this:
Reputable breeders DO NOT sell their puppies in stores. Reputable breeders DO NOT breed their bitches over and over and over. Reputable breeders will always ask for a non-breeding contract from you. Reputable breeders only breed the best of the best. Reputable breeders always screen the sires and dams for health problems before they breed and show you proof that the animal is healthy. If they do not offer a health certificate, ask for one. If they cannot produce one, find a breeder that can.
I understand that many of you are used to my lighthearted silly side when you come here. However, spaying and neutering is something I feel very strongly about. I do not want to see any of my friends die because they were homeless.
Momma says if you can, adopt. If you cannot adopt, foster. If you cannot foster, donate. If you cannot donate, volunteer. If you cannot volunteer, speak. I'm lucky, I have my Momma to speak for me, but my friends need somebody to speak for them.
That is all. Now we will get back to our regularly scheduled silliness. Thank you for reading this & thank you for helping.

I Did It! I Did It!
I'm so excited! Remember back when my leg was still sore and I said I would like to chase a rabbit one day? Well, today I chased a rabbit! It was so much fun. Momma says I am a great hunter.
When I first saw him, he was running out from under the deck. I think he was hiding there cause he knew I was outside.
But, I spied him and then he saw me and I barked, Then he ran. And I ran. And I ran really fast. He got away but I'm sure he'll never, ever come back. He better tell all his rabbit friends to stay away from here too. For I am The Princess Butterfly and I will protect my home from all intruders.
When I first saw him, he was running out from under the deck. I think he was hiding there cause he knew I was outside.

That is me chasing the rabbit. The Big White Giant was trying to pick up his trail. We are a team.
It's a great life :)
Well, so much has been going on, I haven't had time to write. I'll fill you in.
First off, I made some new friends. They're from Calgary. The humans are Dan & Sue. but more importantly their dogs are named Cooper & Midge. Cooper is a Schnauzer and Midge is a terrier mix. They are both really nice. Midge likes to go into the bush and look for rabbits and stuff. We went to the beach and it was fun.
This is Cooper. He is our pack scout. He was always looking out to see if there was any danger. Then he would run back and tell us.
Then, the best part was I went to Nanaimo! I got to meet Miss G. She is the little girl that gave me my name Princess Butterfly. It was fun meeting her. And you know what? When I got to her house, I found out we were both dressed in pink! I had my very best collar on that is pink and white pearls and my butterfly charm. I also had my pink leash! She had a pretty pink flower in her hair and her clothes were pink. How cool is that? We visited with her for a while and then Momma put matching nail polish on our toes :) Miss G picked out her favourite colour. It is purple with sparkles. Momma said cause we had matching colors we were Princess Sisters.
This is a picture of our matching toes. Miss G's Momma is wearing purple sparkle nail polish too. I guess my Momma is the only one that is not a Princess Sister lol.
This is Midge all covered in sand. She's so funny.
